One of my goals this past year was to become more self aware – of my emotions, actions, etc., to get a better understanding of myself. Self-awareness has given me so much clarity and knowledge, which has allowed me to grow and become more productive. In being able to identify my strengths and weaknesses, I have been able to find assistance where I need to in business and in life so that I can focus on what I’m good at.
Strengths:
- Persistence
When it comes to something I’m passionate about, I’m super persistent. Whether it’s a brand I want to work with, or a goal I have in mind, I don’t stop until I know I’ve done everything in my power.
- Optimism
I’ve been told a few times that “I’m too optimistic.” WTF does that even mean?! To me, optimism is essential to achieving goals and in life in general. There are so many things that can be thrown our way on a daily basis and having a positive and optimistic attitude helps me get through tough or challenging situations. You can either have a good or bad attitude about things in life; I tend to always try to find the good.
- Self-motivation
I’m a self-starter, I usually don’t need anyone to motivate me, however we all have lazy days, and lazy days are important. Aside from those days that are far and few in between, I’m a pretty motivated person.
- Organization
Borderline OCD, but not mad about it. Organization gives me a peace of mind and eases my stress.
- Time Management
I love planning and have come up with a system that works well for me. I plan out my day hourly, which is ridiculous but keeps me on track with everything I have to do. Time management is so important!
Weaknesses:
- Not prioritizing self-care
There are some weeks I’ll get in a really good workflow and forget to stop and take a break. By Friday afternoon, the week has flown by, I’ve gotten a ton of stuff done but haven’t even taken a second to realize how I’m feeling. This is something I’m actively working on becuae self-care is so so important.
- Saying “yes” too much
There’s nothing wrong about saying yes, but recently it’s been too many “yes-es.” Making sure to block out time in my schedule for relaxation, time to spend with friends/family, etc. is something I’m trying to do more often.
- Trying to control too much
I’m a huge control freak. When there’s something with my name on it, I have to be fully in control of everything. It’s dumb because we all need help with things at some point and I need to learn how to let go and trust more.
Becoming more self-aware has allowed me understand where I excel and where I need to grow.
